THE RANGE 2025: WIDE SPACES, BIG EFFORTS, PURE GRAVEL
On July 19th, the windswept plains and rugged backroads of Claresholm, Alberta, welcomed riders to the 2025 edition of The Range — one of the newest and most promising events on the Gravel Earth Series calendar. With 122 kilometers and 1,606 meters of climbing, the route offered a perfect balance of speed, endurance, and strategic depth. It was fast, relentless, and unmistakably Canadian.
Gravel with room to breathe
Set against the backdrop of Alberta’s wide skies and wheat-lined roads, The Range delivered a course defined by openness — open terrain, open racing, and open legs from the very first kilometer. The prairie wind added complexity to what could seem like a straightforward course on paper. Rolling hills, exposed ridgelines, and technical gravel descents demanded constant focus and a deep reserve of grit.
As the temperature climbed throughout the day, so did the stakes. With no major climbs to separate the field, it came down to who could suffer the smartest.
A sprint decides the men’s victory
The men’s race ended in one of the most exciting finishes of the GES season so far. Brett Greiner (Peloton Racing) and Daniel Stret (TSCC) escaped early and held off the chasers in a powerful two-man break. After sharing the workload across the Alberta backroads, they arrived at the finish side by side. In a final sprint, it was Greiner who edged ahead — both riders clocking an identical time of 4:00:12.
Just behind, Bryce Molder pushed solo to secure third place in 4:05:53, showing tactical strength and stamina. A tightly packed chase group followed, with Andrew Wiese (Independent) and Curtis Holloway (TSCC) rounding out the Top 5 after an all-out effort in the closing kilometers.
Duffield untouchable in the women’s field
There was no ambiguity in the women’s race — it was Kelsey Duffield’s day from the first climb to the final turn. Representing Peloton Racing, Duffield powered away early and never looked back, finishing in 4:11:58 — a time fast enough to place her inside the men’s Top 10. Her control over the pace and terrain was unmatched.
Lindsay Glassford (Brava Endurance / F2C Nutrition) chased hard behind, managing the conditions with resilience to take second place in 4:29:10. Not far off, Sarah Goodridge, also from Peloton Racing, completed the podium, solidifying a strong team performance. Independent riders Breanna Murphy and Callie Stirling fought hard to earn fourth and fifth place respectively, both delivering consistent pacing and smart race management across the entire route.

The Range and the Gravel Earth Series spirit
In its 2025 edition, The Range proved that great gravel doesn’t need altitude to test your limits — just endless horizon, tough legs, and a hunger to push beyond comfort. It’s a race where the land defines the rhythm, and where every rider, from first to last, finishes a little stronger than when they started.
The Range brought the GES spirit to the Canadian prairies: wild, human, and real.
Next stop: Megre – 2 august 2025
The Gravel Earth Series now heads to Zarasai, in the Utena region of Lithuania, for Megre on August 2nd. A unique race surrounded by lakes, forests, and Baltic summer light. Another landscape, another culture, another challenge.
Let’s keep rolling.
